Definitely Dark is an Emerald Bay classic, now in new packaging. This bronzer-free tanning accelerator lotion, sold as ‘Emerald Bay Definitely Dark Accelerating Intensifier’, delivers a deep, healthy-looking tan. Like every Emerald Bay product, it is built on agave nectar, which activates colour. Sunflower oil, shea butter and aloe vera care for your skin during the session. It’s the bronzer-free sibling of Definitely Bronze (formerly Definitely Black).

What does Emerald Bay’s Definitely Dark lotion do?
A tanning accelerator is applied before your tanning session to help you tan faster and get a deeper colour. Definitely Dark works on your skin’s natural tan, with no bronzers (no DHA): the colour you get comes entirely from your skin’s own melanin production.
Its main ingredient, agave nectar, gives the skin essential nutrients (proteins, vitamins and sugars, a source of energy) to help two types of cell work properly: melanocytes, which produce melanin, and keratinocytes, which renew the skin. Tyrosine (oleoyl tyrosine), the amino acid your skin uses to make melanin, stimulates its production and speeds up your tan.

How to use Definitely Dark on a sunbed
Apply Emerald Bay Definitely Dark to clean, dry skin before your tanning session, in a thin, even layer all over your body. Wash your hands after application. Stick to the session time recommended by your salon to avoid burning.
The 15ml sachet covers one session or lets you try this lotion; the 250ml bottle is made for regular sunbed use.
Definitely Dark or Definitely Bronze: which Emerald Bay accelerator?
Both Emerald Bay accelerators are built on agave nectar, like the whole range. The difference is the bronzer.
- Definitely Dark (bronzer-free): ideal for fair skin and your first sessions, while you build your base tan.
- Definitely Bronze, formerly Definitely Black (with bronzers): for olive skin or skin that’s already well tanned. DHA doesn’t create the colour, it transforms it: a tan that has gone dull gets its coppery glow back.
