Supertan Palm Beach Accelerator - Tanning accelerator gel with hyaluronic acid

A tanning accelerator, or tan activator, stimulates the production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour, during UV exposure. Its full name, Supertan Palm Beach Accelerator, and the words ‘Hialuron Gel Accelerator’ on the pack say it all: it is an accelerator gel with hyaluronic acid. Retailers also list it as ‘Palm Beach Tan Accelerator’ or ‘Supertan Palm Beach Hyluron Gel Accelerator’. Palm Beach is neither a lotion nor a bronzing cream: its gel texture spreads in a thin, even layer all over the body. It is designed for sunbeds and can be used outdoors when the sun is at its weakest.

Palm Beach contains no DHA or erythrulose: the colour you get comes only from your own melanin, stimulated during the tanning session. No streaks, no orange palms, no bronzer smell.

This is our advice for first sessions and fair skin. For olive skin (Mediterranean or African skin type) or skin that’s already deeply tanned, choose a Supertan with bronzers instead, such as Peaches & Coconut Cream and its high dose of DHA. Bronzers don’t create colour, they transform it: when melanin is working hard, a tan can turn dull, and a touch of DHA makes it more coppery and radiant.

Supertan highlights four actives: ‘tyrosine, aloe, hyaluronic acid, green tea’.

• Tyrosine: the amino acid that is a precursor of melanin, and the go-to active in tanning accelerators.
• Hyaluronic acid: a molecule that holds water in the skin. With aloe vera, it provides multi-level hydration and helps rejuvenate the skin.
• Aloe vera (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice): the first ingredient after water, it softens the skin.
• Green tea (Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract): an antioxidant extract that completes the key actives of the gel.
• Allantoin, cucumber extract (Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract) and milk proteins (Hydrolyzed Milk Protein): they complete the formula for soft, smooth skin.
• Glycerin: a moisturising ingredient that keeps the skin supple.

Just before each tanning session, apply an even layer of Palm Beach all over your body. Wash your hands thoroughly after application. For external use only. Stick to the session time recommended by your salon to avoid burning.
