Energising exfoliating face scrub ‘Jet Set Scrub’ (Jet Set Sun)

A good tan takes a little prep, and exfoliating comes first, on your face as on your body. A scrub removes dead skin cells and rough patches, so your skin takes self tan far better (as it does the DHA in sunbed lotions with bronzers), and your tanned complexion comes out brighter and more even.

The Jet Set Scrub face scrub preps your skin for the brand’s self tans: Jet Set Sun self tan lotion, Jet Set Sun self tan mousse and Jet Set Sun self tan mist. It works just as well before any other kind of tan.

• Before self tan or a tanning session: exfoliate your face and décolletage 24 hours before you apply.
• How to scrub: massage a small amount onto damp skin in small circles, then rinse.
• Afterwards: moisturise every day and don’t exfoliate while your colour lasts. When it starts to fade, a gentle scrub once a week helps it fade evenly; once it has gone, start the cycle again: scrub, apply, moisturise.

Exfoliating is the first step. Then, for a flawless tan with Jet Set Sun self tans:

• Moisturise: apply a moisturiser to dry areas, then wait 1 hour before applying self tan.
• Clean skin: when you apply, wear no make-up, perfume or other lotion.
• Application: shake the bottle, put the self tan on a mitt or a Kabuki brush, never directly on your skin, and blend straight away.
• Afterwards: wait 4 to 8 hours before showering, while the DHA develops your tan.
